Erl Emmanuel Sorilla
Erl started his dance training at the age of 10 at the Edwin C. Duero School of Dance in Iloilo under the tutelage of Edwin Duero and Herbert Alvarez in classical and modern ballet. After a year, he earned full scholarship to the Ballet Manila summer dance workshops in 2003 and 2004.
In 2005, Erl became one of the chosen scholars to enter the Philippine High School for the Arts, majoring in Ballet under the supervision of Victor Ursabia, Nonoy Froilan, Veronique Duma-Berdin, and Ronilo Jaynario, and graduating with an award for Artistic Excellence. From 2005-2009, Erl participated in the CCP Summer Dance Workshop as company scholar. He continued his dance training at the University of the Philippines College of Music majoring in DCPMA-Dance, where he became a member of the UP Dance Company led by Emeritus Steve Villaruz, Herbert Alvarez, Elena Laniog and Angel Lawenko-Baguilat.
In 2011, Erl became an apprentice of Ballet Philippines and member of Ballet Philippines II under Paul Alexander Morales and Alden Lugnasin. In 2014, he was promoted to company member. He has performed in the company’s classical and modern productions notably Rama Hari, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Giselle and Rock Supremo. At the 1st CCP Ballet Competition in 2014, he won the Trudl Dubsky Choreography award for his piece “Dolores”.
