JM Cabling is an independent dance artist who is based in Manila.

He majored in Philippine Folk Dance at the Philippine High School for the Arts and graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines (UP) with the degree of Bachelor of Music (Dance). JM has participated in different dance productions, workshops, master classes, and lectures locally and in different countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, and France.

With works such as Sarimanok (from the opening ceremony of the Southeast Asian Games in 2019), Buoy (where he received the Trudl Dubsky Zipper Award for Best Choreography at the CCP Ballet Competition 2018), Queuing Class (3rd Place in the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Sayaw Pinoy 2018), Flight (1st Place in the NCCA Sayaw Pinoy 2013), and Layag, (1st Place in the NCCA Sayaw Pinoy 2014) listed among his accomplishments.

JM has likewise choreographed Filipino theater musicals such as Mula sa Buwan of Black Box Productions, Himala: Isang Musikal of 9Works Theatrical and Sandbox Collective, and Tanghalang Pilipino’s Lam-ang: An Ethno-epic Musical where he received Outstanding Choreography at the Philstage Gawad Buhay Awards 2019. He is also the first graduate of the CCP Choreographers Series with his works Bent (1st Place in the Wifi Body New Choreographer’s Competition 2014), Nothing Special (premiered in KoryoLab in 2017, finalist at the 2019 Yokohama Dance Collection 2019 and recipient of Alvin Erasga Tolentino Koryograpiya Award), and Ang Lihim ni Lea (as one of the featured artists of NeoFilipino 2019).

He is currently commissioned to choreograph the celebration of the Philippine Night at the Dubai Expo this year.
