Hosting an event with Ballet Philippines provides a platform to
showcase our performances and talented dancers. In-turn, these
events then generate funds that support the progression of our
mission, vision and educational programs.
It was a beautiful, sunny day on Tuesday, July 16, when members of the media made their way to Solaire Resort and Entertainment City’s Waterside. They were there to savor a delightful lunch prepared by the restaurant’s chefs, celebrate Ballet Philippines’ 55th Season, and catch an excerpt of the upcoming performance of La Sylphide.
Solaire Resort Entertainment City Waterside was the lovely venue for the event
The intimate event began with Ballet Philippines’ principal dancers, Jemima Reyes and Ian Ocampo, taking the stage to perform the introduction to La Sylphide, capturing the audience's full attention with their mesmerizing dance.
Ballet Philippines’ President, Kathleen Liechtenstein, then welcomed the media friends and supporters, revealing the shows included in the 55th season: La Sylphide from August 9 to 11, Peter Pan from December 6 to 8, and the original production Ang Panaginip from February 28 to March 2, 2025. She also shared the company’s excitement about opening the season with La Sylphide.

“BP is staging La Sylphide for the first time in 55 years! Bringing this oldest romantic ballet to life is part of our commitment to pushing the boundaries of developmental ballet in the Philippines. I will let Misha, our Artistic Director, tell you more about how our dancers have been seriously working on the strongest technique in their footwork and torso and how they’ve been undergoing tremendous training – it's going to be a tremendous show,” she concluded.
Mikhail “Misha” Martynyuk, Ballet Philippines’ Artistic Director, followed with a short speech about the dancers’ training for the show. “This ballet is very important because it brings BP’s performance to a different level—a new level of technique and purity of execution. I'm very proud of it! This performance is difficult for ballet dancers. It involves incredible stamina and a special technique of their feet, which our dancers have been training very, very hard to master,” he shared.

Guests enjoyed a lunch featuring Caesar Salad, Tuna Tartare, Rigatoni, Mahi Mahi Papillote, Peri Peri Chicken, and a slice of Burnt Basque Cheesecake for dessert. They also had the opportunity to ask questions of both Kathleen Liechtenstein and Misha Martynyuk during an engaging Q&A session.
After coffee was served, some guests bid their goodbyes and proceeded to the reception table to receive their event souvenirs: Chocolate Pyramid Truffles and Orange Almond Loaves, provided by long-time Ballet Philippines supporter, Bizu.
As the event concluded, the excitement in the air was palpable. Ballet enthusiasts and media alike left with a renewed sense of anticipation for the upcoming performances.
