Since launching in 2020, Ballet Philippines has been empowering the community through Masterclasses featuring the superstars of the dance world. Ballet Philippines has since expanded its range of topics and sphere of influence with the mounting of BPOnStream MASTERCLASS on Creators, Copyrights, and Intellectual Property Laws.

The Masterclass was led by moderator, Atty. Lorna Patajo-Kapunan, one of the leading litigation lawyers in the country. She expertly navigated the class following inspiring video messages from former DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, Chairperson of the Womens’ Business Council Mylene Abiva, and Chairperson of Pru Life UK Ida Tiongson.

That day’s key speaker, Immediate President of the Philippine Bar Association Atty. Rico V. Domingo, Esq., kept an online audience of over 100 creators, legal practitioners, business owners, and creative agencies, fully engaged. He dove into enlightening the community about the different Copyright and Philippine IP laws that can protect creatives and their work. His module covered the basic parameters, definitions, and scope of Philippine Laws and thoroughly discussed the dynamic between creators, companies, and businesses.

The audience, who stayed on for the entire 1.5 hour session, expressed appreciation for the valuable learning opportunities the class had to offer. Questions poured in one after the other just as soon as the chat box opened for the Q&A portion. Attendees from the worlds of dance, music, literature, and visual arts, covered a number of topics. A touchpoint that struck a chord, especially for enthusiasts of film and movies, included a discussion about Sherlock Holmes and Netflix’s film Enola Holmes, which portrayed the famous detective in a way that’s different from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original work.

Notable guests during the Masterclass included well respected journalist Thelma San Juan, writers from PhilStar and the Philippine Daily Inquirer, editors from One Mega Global Licensing, and creative groups from the realms of music, graphics and visual arts. Organizations from the business, legal, and entertainment communities also made up that day’s online class. As a special treat for everyone’s participation, attendees of the class were also sent contract templates that they could easily utilize for the protection of their creative works.
